Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dough ingredients: flour, sugar, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Combine warm milk with yeast in a small bowl and let sit until frothy.
  3. Mix the yeast mixture into the flour blend, adding egg and melted butter, until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place kneaded dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours.
  6. Prepare filling by mixing diced apples with brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and melted butter.
  7. Roll the risen dough into a rectangle about 12x18 inches.
  8. Spread the apple filling evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  9. Roll up the dough tightly into a log shape and slice into 12 equal pieces.
  10. Place the cut rolls in a greased baking dish and cover to rise for 30 to 45 minutes.
  11. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while the rolls rise.
  12. Bake rolls for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown and filling is bubbly.
  13. Let the rolls cool in the dish for about 10 minutes.
  14. Beat together cream cheese and butter for frosting, add sugar and vanilla, then adjust consistency with milk.
  15. Frost the warm rolls and serve them immediately.
